Le Zab mo snying thig gi gnad thams cad bsdus pa’i don khrid lag len gsal ba de Bu ’bor bo bKra shis rgya mtsho : table analytique

A table of the Zab mo snying thig gi gnad thams cad bsdus pa’i don khrid lag len gsal ba by Bu ’bor bo bKra shis rgya mtsho
(2nd half of the 16th century) :
The second most ancient practice manual of the dGongs pa zang thal
(After that of Hor po Śā kya rgyal mtshan — both masters of Kaḥ thog)

1.Bla ma brgyud pa’i rim pa — 1b

1.1. Ring brgyud

1.1.1. sNga ’gyur gyi lugs

The explanation is quite general : no reference to the gZer lnga, etc. The author speaks of 3 days and not of 100 000 repetitions.

In this text, the extraordinary preliminary practices include the ru shan, plus the direct introduction combining the khregs chod with the Mahāmudrā of the bKa’ brgyud pa. In this old Kaḥ thog tradition, it seems that the dGongs pa zang thal Khregs chod instructions used to be combined with the bKa’ brgyud Mahāmudrā.

The vajra posture, clearly and correctly explained. Instruction (38a) on the visualisation of the vajra with the color of element connected to the birth year, first true sign of a link of this text with the dGongs pa zang thal. But the author mentions alos the possibility of a fixe-coloured vajra (as in the Yang ti nag po); the vajra can be three- or five-pointed.
